Better late than never, right?…or no?

Am I the only person extremely tickled by all of this? For anyone who hasn’t been paying attention, allow me to fill you in: Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj, and Keith Urban. Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey had a brief verbal exchange and it was caught on camera, went viral and now its just a big huge mess that everyone seems to care about…except me. Steven Tyler and Ceelo Green have both openly stated that the beef is ‘fake’ which can’t be further from the truth…but okay.

I’m sometimes late on the draw with things like this but I’m SO glad I waited until the end of the week since Nicki chose to stick her Louboutins back in her mouth. Let me start off with this, I’m #TeamMariah all day, everyday but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. The ONLY reason I’m not too mad at Nicki Minaj is because I’m mad at Mariah Carey. I thought I made myself clear that Mariah didn’t need to be on American Idol in the first place. Not that there’s anything wrong with the show, but Mariah can’t tell me she has nothing better to do with her time; she has a set of twin toddlers. Being a legend is hard work, I suppose. There were many mistakes made so before I get into why Nicki is wrong, I have to scold Mimi.

Mariah, you’re a legend, boo.

You’re not supposed to be on anybody show, much less be on a show where you have to share the female perspective with someone else. If they were going to have Mariah, they shouldn’t have had Nicki or vice versa. Jennifer Lopez didn’t share the spotlight and neither did Paula Abdul. So, American Idol producers, let’s get into why exactly two female judges were necessary this season out of all the others. Just an observation.

In the video clip, Nicki goes off on a tangent about Mariah ‘patronizing’ her. She pretty much drops the F bomb and waves her hands a lot. Nothing of relevance. Ranting and raving and saying nothing, but what was interesting was that I couldn’t hear Mariah saying anything and for that I applaud her. Now, this is why I’m mad at Nicki…

First off, I’m not really a huge fan of hers but I do listen to some of her music and I think she’s pretty versatile and has good work ethic. My problem is that big ass head of hers. I think that Nicki’s mainstream acceptance has her feeling a little bold and brazen. She was recently on The View and gave off an impression the COMPLETE opposite of what she displayed in that video. I actually started to warm up to her but that video with her going off on Mariah, candid or not, was crass and immature and totally disrespectful; even if Mariah did patronize her. The truth is, you have to climb your way to the top and there’s nothing written in stone saying she’s going to be as hot a year from now as she is now. Mariah has paid her dues and as someone who was so ‘inspired’ by Mariah, my natural instinct would be to buddy up with her and gain some new friends. Mariah’s got friends in high places and Nicki played that situation wrong. I also think that the rumors about Nicki being ‘rude’ to Mariah on the set of their video a few years back could possibly be true because you would have to feel someone out before going off on them like that. She never would’ve pulled a stunt like that on Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, or anybody else for that matter. That was way too bold to be the first time.

Then she’s so trigger happy, she jumps all over Da Brat over comments she ‘allegedly’ made over the beef. It doesn’t matter what she says in her weak apology, what you say when you’re pissed is how you really feel. She’s pissing off all the wrong people because all Mariah’s good industry friends, whether they admit it or not, are going to feel a certain type of way about Nicki. But whatever, she’ll be okay. Maybe she’ll come back and say it was ‘Roman’ talking for her.

So what do you folks think about this?

My verdict? I like both of them and if, for whatever reason, this was a fake beef (highly doubtful) then they both need Jesus.
